DRIFTWOOD SCULPTURES
I have spent countless hours combing the beaches on the shores of Lake Huron and Lake Superior searching for birds hidden in pieces of driftwood. Since the inception of my art practice I had always been fascinated by the beauty of driftwood and much like a child would lay looking upon the sky finding shapes in clouds, I have looked down onto the sand on the shores of the lakes searching for driftwood shapes reminiscent of birds on my many trips along these two great lakes. Why birds? Because they evoke freedom and it is that very sense of freedom and inner peace that the beach brings to my soul.
